Hi, I'm Wael Nasreddine.

I am a Staff Site Reliability Engineer, Cloud Architect, and Software Engineer with a career spanning over two decades. I specialize in the intersection of Software Engineering and Operations—building resilient systems, automating toil, and managing complex infrastructure.

👨‍💻 Professional Background#

My philosophy is simple: if it's not declarative and version-controlled, it doesn't exist.

  • Current Role: I am a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Zoox (joined Feb 2025), building the infrastructure that powers the future of autonomous mobility.
  • Consulting: I am the Founder of Trip in Tech, helping businesses modernize their stacks with Cloud-Native and Go-powered solutions.
  • The Journey: Since 2002, I have navigated the full stack—from Co-founding startups (Publica) and serving as Principal Architect (Motive) to my current focus on SRE. I naturally drift toward the "Ops" side to solve the hardest deployment, scaling, and reliability problems.

🧠 How I Work (The Philosophy)#

  • Infrastructure as Code: I am a NixOS Maintainer and Terraform expert. I believe operating systems should be as reproducible as the code running on them.
  • Kubernetes: I operate across the full spectrum—from managing large-scale EKS fleets professionally to architecting bare-metal production clusters personally using Talos Linux, ArgoCD, and Cilium.
  • Digital Gardening: I follow the Zettelkasten method. This website is a "Digital Garden" (served via Trilium), designed to grow atomic notes into interconnected knowledge.

  • Observability: The Grafana Stack (Loki, Mimir, Tempo).
  • Homelab: A massive "Home Data Center" powered by a SuperMicro 6048R (512GB RAM), TrueNAS (ZFS), and Proxmox.

⚡ Personal#

When I'm not tweaking a Nix expression or rebalancing a ZFS pool, I am a dedicated husband and father.

I’m also an unapologetic fan of the Buffy, Angel, and Supernatural universes. When I'm not watching hunters on TV, I'm usually hitting targets myself at the local archery range.
