About Me

My name is Wael Nasreddine, I’m born in 1984 at Lebanon, Computer Engineering student.

I got my first computer when I was a 12, and been obsessed by it since. I learned everything by myself from using the software to fixing the hardware…

In 2003, I moved to North-West of France, to Rennes specifically, where I began my university studies, I discovered Linux during my first year and my first distribution was Mandrake. The very first day I installed it, I compiled Apache/PHP from source and started learning PHP, but the more I used it, the more I loved it and finally I started using linux on daily basis making scripts (Bash/Perl/Python) for my everyday usage…

In 2005, I started building my first server (this server actually), I used to use Debian at that time, after a while struggling with it, I discovered VHCS, it was very nice but very hard to install, many steps are to be made, common steps for everyone, So I decided to make life easier and vhcs.sh was born. My next project was SMO Ajax Shoutbox I made it for a website I used to own, and I released it as an open source project, I love Open Source and I love supporting it…

In 2006, I started my own distribution ( Phoenix ) which I had to shutdown in 2007, I was the only one working on it and I didn’t have the time to continue supporting it…

In 2008, I joined the developer team of Sabayon Linux, it’s a very nice Gentoo based distribution, if you haven’t tried it yet I highly recommend you do. I maintain the main repository, updating packages, closing bugs etc.. I also am a beta tester, which means when a new version comes up, I install it on a spare Hard Disk, and check for obvious bugs as well as hidden ones…

On the Internet I’m known as eMxyzptlk. When I thought about getting myself a unique nickname, I thought of Mr. Mxyzptlk I like this character, and I love the name. The problem is, it is not unique, so I thought maybe I’ll try something neat instead, so I created myself, my own fictional character, eMxyzptlk, the e version ( The Electronic Version ) of Mxyzptlk ;) .
